After breakfast, check out and drive to Hualien along the Taiwan East Coast - Qingshui Cliffs, which are a twenty-one-kilometer stretch of coastal landscape along eastern Taiwan’s treacherous Suhua Highway between Hualien and Yilan. The long and narrow highway winds along the coast between the two counties and even though it is considered quite dangerous, it is also said to be one of the most beautiful highways in the world with views of the ocean over the steep cliffs. We are blessed with a couple of stops along the highway that allows us to get out of our cars and walk around to enjoy the beauty of the cliffs.

The Taipei 101 formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is a supertall skyscraper designed by C.Y. Lee & Partners in Xinyi, Taipei, Taiwan. Day 6 Taipei

Taipei Confucius Temple, Lin An Tai Historical House and Museum, Dihua Street (Chinese herbal medicine shop)

Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: In Taipei

In the morning, we will walk into Taipei Confucius Temple, which is modeled after the original Confucius Temple in Qufu, China. In keeping with the sober spirit of Confucianism, the building is appropriately austere. Among the Confucius temples in Taiwan, Taipei is the only one adorned with southern Fujian-style ceramic applique.

Then have a visit to Lin An Tai Historical House and Museum. It was built in the orientation toward the southwest at an auspicious location in terms of good Feng Shui. It was a very refined 2-partitioned and 5-annex old house with a square.

Walk around Dihua Street, the oldest street in Taipei, and the main avenue of Dadaocheng Taipei. Significant efforts were put into conserving the original architecture of the old shophouses, and many young cultural entrepreneurs brought new life into the restored spaces. Here are today about 200 Chinese medicinal herb outlets in Dadaocheng.
